Committees offer the opportunity to expand one’s circle of friends, to get involved in Jewish affairs, and to contribute to our congregation. Like many congregations our size, committees are the backbone of Mickve Israel activities. By partnering with the clergy and staff, volunteers amplify everything that happens by enriching our whole community with their energy and dedication.
Building and Grounds
The Building and Grounds Committee addresses issues related to building maintenance and cleaning, structural issues and repairs, security, and landscaping.
Caring/Chesed
The Caring/Chesed Committee is a multi-faceted service to the Mickve Israel community that provides support to the members of our congregation in their time of need.
Docent
The Docent Committee supports the educational and historical programming of the synagogue by facilitating enriching tours of the Gutstein Museum and the sanctuary of Congregation Mickve Israel.
Exotic Resort Locations
The Exotic Resort Locations Committee is responsible the scheduling the synagogues’ summer Friday night Shabbat services at individual members’ homes.
Finance
The Finance Committee is responsible for the synagogue’s financial activity, including review and maintenance of financial controls, budgeting, and forecasting.
History and Heritage
The Museum and Archives Committee is responsible for the development of ideas and policies of the Nancy and Lawrence Gutstein Museum and the synagogues’ archives.
Membership
The Membership Committee focuses on maintaining a welcoming synagogue community by reaching out to potential members, reviewing new membership applications, welcoming new members, and retaining current members.
Public Worship
The Public Worship Committee works closely with the rabbi to plan and prepare an inviting and inspiring worship for all. This committee is responsible for holiday and special Shabbat services, maintaining our prayer books, and inviting members to perform Shabbat and ritual honors.
Religious School
The Religious School Committee consists of delegated representatives to The Shalom School board. Committee members provide support, ideas, energy, and leadership to make The Shalom School be the best it can be. This committee supports The Shalom School Principal through hands-on assistance, brainstorming, problem solving, and helping to shape our religious school vision and policy.
