Welcome to Congregation Mickve Israel
Located in the Historic District of Savannah, Georgia on beautiful Monterey Square, Congregation Mickve Israel, founded in 1733, is the third oldest Jewish congregation in America. Our first synagogue, constructed in 1820, was the first synagogue built in Georgia. Our magnificent sanctuary, completed in 1878, features unique gothic style architecture and led Condé Nast Traveler to name Congregation Mickve Israel one of the 15 Most Beautiful Synagogues in the World.
Deeply rooted in Savannah’s history, Congregation Mickve Israel is foremost, a thriving and active Reform Jewish synagogue.
We host worship services every Shabbat and during all Jewish holidays.

Congregation Mickve Israel is a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive historic Reform Jewish congregation practicing both contemporary/mainstream and classical Judaism. We are a vibrant, growing synagogue of over 455 families that takes great pride in honoring our rich history and traditions while pursuing our vision for the future. We offer religious, social and educational programs that are stimulating and meaningful to our diverse membership and guests. Mickve Israel also welcomes people from all over the world and from every background who visit us to take a tour of our historic sanctuary and award-winning museum.
