To all those who joined us
July 11 - 13, 2008 as we celebrated our
275th anniversary, thank you!
Our celebration was fantastic and we will continue to relive the event through our highlights.
The installation of the William and Sarah kicked off the year-long celebration of our 275th anniversary.

This fine hand-crafted model of the William and Sarah, a WestIndianman ship, is a replica of the ship that brought the first Jewish settlers to Savannah in July of 1733.
In case you missed it, in 2008 Congregation Mickve Israel celebrated the arrival of the first Jewish settlers to the state of Georgia and our 275th anniversary.
Our anniversary weekend was full of grand festivities!
Some of the highlights were:
the organ recital in our sanctuary with Timothy Hall
the Shabbat services on Friday night and Saturday morning
the reading from our historic 1733 Torah
our Kiddush luncheon
our reception, banquet and dinner
the descendant brunch (family reunion style)
and the tours of the sanctuary and museum as well as Jewish heritage tours.
All of our speakers were inspiring! Everyone who attended was truly touched by the parts that these wonderful individuals played in our 275th anniversary celebration.
Many thanks to:
John McKay Sheftall
Michael Brandon
Baroness Ruth Lynn Deech
Rabbi Howard A. Berman
Mandy Patinkin
