From the tradition established by Abraham, Jews have been predisposed to provide a location for burial. From the arrival and settlement of the first Jews in Savannah in 1733, a location for burial was the second priority after the founding of a congregation.
Although many things have changed since the first Jewish burial grounds in Savannah were established on the median strip of Oglethorpe Avenue and Bull Street over 250 years ago, the underlying necessity to meet this need remains. Let Mickve Israel help you with meeting this need.
We have burial plots available for purchase in the beautiful, historic Bonaventure Cemetery. From our initial purchase of plots in 1907, we continue to provide a variety of plots for purchase, from single space to family, all with perpetual care.
Our Assistant Temple Director Lauree M. San Juan will be glad to discuss this with you. She can be reached at the Temple office or by email.
